The PDI Toolkit: Primavera P3e & Oracle Projects 11i Integration Primavera is a powerful project planning and management tool. Oracle Projects is also a powerful project accounting application. The challenge for customers, who use both tools, is the interface and integration of accurate and timely data between these two applications. Historically, customers have had to build and maintain the interfaces using their own in-house resources. In most instances, the proprietary solution was cobbled together and required a substantial amount of time and money to maintain. These in-house solutions accessed data tables directly. They often worked without accurate validation.

Impac has developed a solution to jump-start the process and reduce the amount of economic cost required to link Primavera applications and Oracle Projects. Impac calls the solution Primavera Data Interface (PDI). The presentation will review the implementation at Power Engineers (an ENR100 Company).

Using the standard interfaces provided by Primavera and Oracle, Impac has developed some “plug & play” code, enabled Workflow and developed user configurable profiles to connect the two applications. The plug and play solution uses Workflow and definable profile options to assist the customer with set up.

PDI includes the following forms:

• Resource Mapping; used to map resources from Oracle to P3e,
• WBS Translation; used to translate the WBS between Primavera and Oracle,
• Project Level Profile Options; used for setting project level profile options.

Building Workflow into PDI provides:

• Validation through a seamless integration,
• Use of the standard application interface tables,
• Process flexibility,
• Notification of important events,
• Flexible error handling.

PDI delivers the following One-Way interfaces:

• Actual costs from OP to P3e,
• Interface of Statistics from OP to P3e,
• Interface of Organization structure from OP to P3e,
• Interface of Resources from OP to P3e,
• Interface of Budget data from OP to P3e,
• Interface of Quick Codes, Service/Billable Types, Expense Type and Organizations from OP to P3e,
• Percent Complete interface from P3e to OP.

PDI delivers the following Two-Way interfaces:

• Interface of Project WBS and Task information,
• Interface of Project Budget information.
